Community Consultation on Biodome Garden

Brewer Park Community Garden is having a community consultation on the Biodome Garden Project on Sunday, June 2, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm in the Brewer Park Pool meeting room.

Capital Ward Councillor David Chernushenko will attend and all members of the public are welcome.

The Biodome Garden is an innovative project of Brewer Park Community Garden that will address food security in Ottawa by extending our growing season. Other benefits will include community-building, diet and health, and educational programming. During the meeting, we will describe the proposed Biodome Garden and answer any questions you may have.

The Biodome Garden is one of four projects supported by the Neighbourhood Connection Office at the City of Ottawa, with ground-breaking planned for this summer and completion in fall/winter 2013.

Another Successful Build Day at the Garden

Despite the treat of rain, the May 11th Build Day proved to be a success with new members managing to build their garden boxes without too many difficulties. A special thanks goes out to the many volunteers who helped new members make it all happen.

A Fantastic First Garden Build Weekend

What a fantastic first Garden Build weekend we had on May 4 and 5, 2013!!

In addition to the work involved in cutting and preparing the materials for the garden build (including a few surprise jobs), we managed to completely build and fill 14 boxes, and we have 7 boxes that are mostly built!

Great work everyone! With our target goal of completing 30 boxes by next weekend, we are spot on track.

To everyone who came out - to those who built their own plots, to those who helped others build plots, and to those who helped organize the weekends - you all made this weekend a big success and great fun, and your contributions will serve the garden well for years to come!

We'll be back next weekend to complete the rest of the boxes, and we would love to have you there - Saturday May 11th, from 10am-3pm.
